UOIT's Faculty of Health Sciences recently held a Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Showcase event offering faculty members and field professionals the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences.

The event coincided with the fourth-year student research poster presentation and competition. Attendees of the showcase were invited to view the research posters, which reflect the work performed by Health Sciences practicum students with mentorship provided by their clinical instructors.

Guests also enjoyed a presentation entitled Translating Biomedical Research into Laboratory Services and Solutions presented by Jeffrey Sumner, vice-president, Clinical Development and Quality Assurance at Gamma-Dynacare Medical Laboratories. In addition, UOIT faculty members shared the successes and challenges of launching a university-based Medical Laboratory Science program in Canada.
