Women’s hockey captain Jill Morillo nominated for CIS award

UOIT Ridgebacks women’s hockey captain Jill
Morillo has become second-ever UOIT student-athlete to be nominated for the
Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) female Athlete of the Week award.
Morillo, a third-year Nuclear Engineering student, was an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) peak performer for the week ended October 23 after scoring four goals and an assist in the Ridgebacks’ 5-3 victory over the Western Mustangs. The four-goal, five-point game broke two UOIT single-game records (video highlights of Jill Morillo’s record-breaking game). Morillo’s nomination was also recognized by TSN.
Starting the year on a six-game point streak, the Whitby, Ontario native leads the country in goals (seven) and is second in points (11).
Teammate Jessica Larabie (Pickering, Ontario), goaltender of the women’s hockey team is the only other UOIT student-athlete to be nominated for CIS female Athlete of the Week award, as she won it in November 2010.
