The Office of the Associate Provost Research is proud to announce the call for nominations for the 2012 Research Excellence Awards (REA) for outstanding achievement in research by the university’s core faculty.
The award categories include Early Stage Researcher, which recognizes an individual faculty member whose research in the 10 years since obtaining her/his doctorial degree is judged as outstanding by the Award Committee. The second category, Senior Researcher, recognizes a faculty member whose research is acknowledged as outstanding by international standards and has brought recognition to UOIT.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent scholarly accomplishments (research monographs, peer-reviewed articles, grants for scholarship, patents and creative works); research breakthrough that is acknowledged to be a major advance, influence or transformation; recognition for research accomplishments by professional societies; contribution to the training and research activity of students and post-doctoral fellows; and have their research impact society.
Each award consists of a recognition plaque and a $1,500 contribution to the recipient’s professional development or start-up fund. Both award winners will be expected to give a public presentation to the university and the community.
The deadline for 2012 nominations is Monday, June 4. Program guidelines and nomination forms can be found on the Research Excellence Awards website.
