Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Kinectrics Inc. and Ontario Tech University establish partnership to advance nuclear research and innovation

As Canada’s nuclear industry enters an exciting new period of enormous growth and expansion, Kinectrics Inc., a leading nuclear lifecycle services company, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Ontario Tech University. This collaboration, confirmed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), establishes a mutually beneficial partnership focusing on collaboration, research, and talent development.

The agreement solidifies Kinectrics’ commitment to strengthening academic relationships and supporting the growth of the nuclear industry. By working together with Ontario Tech University, which delivers the only accredited Nuclear Engineering undergraduate program in Canada, we aim to create opportunities for students and graduates to gain hands-on experience, mentorship, as well as networking opportunities that help create clear paths for talented minds to embark on fulfilling careers in the nuclear industry.

The partnership will focus on joint research and innovation in various nuclear applications, including advanced reactors, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), fuel, and power grids, as well as areas like fusion technologies, robotics, health physics, radiation science, hydrogen technologies, decommissioning, waste management, environmental remediation, advanced manufacturing, cyber security, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence.

This MOU marks a significant milestone in Kinectrics’ journey to foster stronger ties with leading Canadian universities and reinforces its commitment to cultivating talent and advancing research within the nuclear domain.
