UOIT dean appointed to prestigious GTA marketing board

OSHAWA, Ont. - Bernadette Schell, dean of the Faculty of Business and IT at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance (GTMA). A group designed to attract international businesses to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the GTMA requires its board to be made up of experts in the field of business, academia and government.

The GTMA is the primary point of contact for international investors looking to start a business in the region or expand into the GTA. The group aims to raise awareness of this area in order to attract new investment and employment opportunities.

The 19-member board was elected at the GTMA's annual general meeting in Oakville on June 22. A partnership among public and private sector businesses, the GTMA represents all 29 regions and municipalities in the GTA, and has support from almost 30 Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce, the federal and provincial governments, and over 50 corporate sponsors.
