Record-breaking Chairman's Charity Classic raises nearly half a million dollars

OSHAWA, Ont. - Two-hundred-and-forty golfers teed off yesterday for the 10th annual Durham Regional Chairman's Charity Classic at Deer Creek Golf Club and Banquet Facility.

Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, partners and volunteers, a record-breaking $490,350 was raised to support bursaries for students at Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), as well as Junior Achievement and Abilities Centre Durham, making it one of the GTA's most successful fundraising golf tournaments.

Durham Region's most successful golf tournament has raised nearly $2.5 million to help students at Durham College and UOIT achieve their post-secondary educational goals.

This year's sold out event included Three Fraser Ford hole-in-one holes; a $1-million shoot out, and a putting contest. Auction items included a hockey box at the Bell Centre in Montreal, UOIT and Durham College tuition, a full home theatre package, and much more.
