Durham College, UOIT students to benefit as Durham Chairman Roger Anderson and friends tee off in charity classic

One of the GTA's largest fundraising golf tournaments expected to raise close to $500,000 on June 7

OSHAWA, Ont. - Devoted golfers, those new to the game, and community champions will all come together on Thursday, June 7 to make a huge difference in the lives of people across Durham Region, as the annual Durham Region Chairman's Charity Classic golf tournament returns to the Deer Creek Golf Club and Banquet Facility.

The 11th annual event will extend a phenomenal legacy of giving to community organizations, as proceeds from this year's classic go to assisting students in need of financial assistance at Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Junior Achievement of Durham Region and the Abilities Centre Durham. Hosted by Region of Durham Chairman Roger Anderson, Durham Region's most successful golf tournament and one of the most successful fundraising golf tournaments in the Greater Toronto Area has raised nearly $2.5 million over its lifetime with last year's event raising more than $490,000.

This year's sold out event includes three Fraser Ford hole-in-one holes; a $1-million shootout; a putting contest; and more. Auction items include a hockey box at the Bell Centre in Montreal and UOIT and Durham College tuition.
