University and college students pitch-in for a good cause

Despite being in the middle of the high-pressure final exam period as the school year draws to a close, the Student Association (SA) of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Durham College and Trent University in Oshawa joined forces with members of the community to get their hands dirty for a good cause on April 24.

UOIT connects with secondary school educators

University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) officials were joined by secondary school educators from Port Hope to Etobicoke, Ontario on April 16 for the annual Educators' Luncheon. The event provided attendees with information about the university and its future plans while they enjoyed lunch.

Community and regional industry partners go back to school for UOIT Connects 2010

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), community and regional industry partners, and businesses will gather together next week for an evening of innovation and networking during UOIT Connects 2010. Attendees of the open house will enjoy lab and facility tours, a student panel discussing their co-op, internship and placement experiences, faculty poster presentations, information on academic/industry collaborations and a selection of dynamic speakers presenting current research.

UOIT's Dr. Rupinder Brar named Ontario's Best Lecturer

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is celebrating along with Dr. Rupinder Brar, a Physics lecturer with the Faculty of Science, for having won TVO's 2010 Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition. This marks the second time in the five-year history of the competition that a UOIT lecturer has won top prize.

Fast Forward: Graduating members of UOIT's Formula SAE racing team acquire TLM Racing

Throughout their undergraduate years at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), engineering students Sam Ashtiani, Shane Viccary, and Jonathon Rolstin have helped bring distinction to UOIT's engineering program. All have been key project leaders on the UOIT Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) team that applies innovative race car design and engineering skills and puts them to the test against other top North American universities.

UOIT chemistry student wins top prize in Ontario

For the second year in a row, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology's (UOIT) Faculty of Science is celebrating the outstanding achievement of a fourth-year chemistry student on the provincial stage. Andrew Pedersen has topped the competition at the 38th Southern Ontario Undergraduate Student Chemistry Conference (SOUSCC). Pedersen won the honour March 20 in London during the conference hosted by the University of Western Ontario.

UOIT students launch interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal

The culmination of many months of hard work and dedication resulted in the launch of the university's first interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal operated solely by students. The Circle@UOIT launched its inaugural issue in early March during an official celebration held on campus.
