FBIT IT security researcher quoted in Toronto Star

Dr. Julie Thorpe, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Business and Information Technology, University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), was recently interviewed for a Toronto Star article about cyber security.

The article, entitled Small business, big problems, detailed some of the information technology (IT) security challenges small businesses face, and provided tips on how to tackle cybercrime threats with limited resources. 

Dr. Thorpe stressed the importance of protecting customer and business information by backing up computer systems. Data can be mirrored to a cloud solution and backed up locally to external hard drive servers. If the computer system is infected by a virus, the backups will minimize data loss.
