January 13, 2025
Ontario Tech University is proud to announce a significant donation from the Sienna for Seniors Foundation in support of the university’s Tech with a Conscience fundraising campaign. This $100,000 commitment will establish the Sienna Senior Living Nursing Scholarships, providing critical financial support to students in the Faculty of Health Sciences’ Nursing program, helping them achieve their academic dreams and professional goals in the health-care sector.
As the philanthropic arm of Markham, Ontario-based Sienna Senior Living, the Sienna for Seniors Foundation is dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors and creating moments of joy and connection in their communities. This investment in Ontario Tech reflects a shared commitment to advancing compassionate care and innovation in health care.
“At Sienna, our purpose is cultivating happiness and enhancing the lives of seniors, which is why the Sienna for Seniors Foundation is dedicated to supporting organizations and individuals who share these goals,” says Nitin Jain, President and CEO, Sienna Senior Living. “As one of the largest senior living providers in Canada, we have an immense privilege and responsibility to lead in this sector. By investing in education and partnerships like the one with Ontario Tech University, we are helping to shape a future where compassionate, skilled health-care professionals are equipped to meet the growing needs of Canadian seniors.”
Seventy students have already benefited from Sienna Senior Living Nursing Scholarships. Second-year nursing student and scholarship recipient Gloria Koya has been able to reduce her work hours and dedicate more time to her education and campus activities, thanks to the Sienna Senior Living Nursing Scholarship.
“This scholarship has encouraged me and given me the freedom to become more involved in extracurricular activities. I am now able to attend campus events, engage in meaningful conversations, and connect with my peers,” says Koya. “In the future, I aspire to become a women’s health nurse practitioner. It is my dream to make a lasting impact on women’s health, and this scholarship has given me the motivation to keep pushing forward.”
The Ontario Tech community is deeply grateful for the Sienna for Seniors Foundation’s generosity, which is helping to shape the next generation of health-care leaders.
