UOIT Commerce students succeed at provincial business conference

Facing stiff competition from 16 other universities, a group of UOIT Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT) students made an impressive showing at the January DECA U provincial competition in Toronto.
UOIT’s representatives at DECA U Ontario spent the weekend participating in various case competitions and attended a series of workshops and networking events. Fourth-year Bachelor of Commerce student Jaskarn Grewal placed in the Top 3 Oral Case Competitions for Accounting.
The DECA U provincial competition provides members with an advanced range of competitive events designed to put their abilities to the test through 12 industry- and function-specific categories and two competitive events.
DECA (originally known as the Distributive Education Clubs of America when it was formed in the 1940s) prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
