UOIT Motorsports competes at international auto race in Michigan

UOIT Motorsports is firing on all cylinders following a recent international university auto racing competition at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.
UOIT Motorsports is a club of undergraduate and graduate Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) students who work all year designing and building a small, formula-style car to compete in various competitions such as the Formula Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) racing series.
UOIT’s latest formula SAE car, named F13, raced against other vehicles from universities across North America and from as far away as Brazil and South Korea.
UOIT Motorsports placed very well in the cost and business presentation areas of the competition. F13 had a strong start in the race by recording some competitive lap times. But in the final quarter of the race, F13 lost power due to a failing part.
“We’d like to thank UOIT and the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) for their support throughout the year,” said Aaron Lang, Team Leader, UOIT Motorsports. “Although it was a disappointing finish, we’re still pleased we got to show off the true potential of our car to universities across the world.”
