Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

The second-annual Further Education Expo brought together 57 educational institutions to speak with students about their programs and admissions processes.

Close to 500 students converged at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) to learn more about graduate studies and specialized program opportunities, within UOIT and other educational institutions, during the second-annual Further Education Expo.

"We were thrilled to host an event dedicated to helping students explore the further education offerings of so many different institutions all in one place," said Darren Grant, Employment Advisor, Career Centre. "The Further Education Expo gives students a chance to learn more about various fields, get accurate, up-to-date information about programs, have their questions answered and ultimately make informed decisions about their further education pursuits."

Hosted by UOIT’s Career Centre on October 10, this year’s event brought together 57 educational institutions to speak with students about their programs and admissions processes – an increase from last year’s 40 participating schools. Several specialized programs were also featured this year, including UOIT’s Pathways/bridge programs, as well as medical, post-diploma, graduate certificate and applied degree offerings from other schools.

A list of participating educational institutions can be found on the Career Centre website.
