Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

On Friday, April 4, Level Up Showcase returns to Toronto’s historic Design Exchange, where over 800 expected attendees will feast their eyes and get their hands on video games developed by the biggest-ever representation of Ontario post-secondary institutions.

Level Up Showcase is co-hosted and organized by faculty from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), University of Toronto (U of T), and OCAD University.

The fourth-annual event provides an interactive playground for the public and recruiting ground for employers. The showcase turns the spotlight on the most talented students in design, art, animation, and computer science. Level Up offers an exclusive opportunity for industry professionals and the public to get their hands on playable games from current and graduating students, all under one roof.

Attendees can expect games that use the most current technology and gaming platforms, from PCs to mobile devices, and more.

This year’s free event will present around 60 games from 17 different institutions: University of Toronto, OCAD University, UOIT, Centennial College, Humber College, Seneca College, Sheridan College, Algonquin College, George Brown College, TriOS College, Ryerson University, York University, University of Waterloo, McMaster University, Niagara College, Brock University, and Carleton University.
