UOIT thanks its volunteers during National Volunteer Week
April 7, 2014
Mahatma Gandhi once said the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) volunteers demonstrate that adage through their commitment to students and to the institution, and their efforts help UOIT achieve excellence in education. UOIT acknowledges our volunteers' service during National Volunteer Week from April 6 to 12.
"A sincere thank you to all of our volunteers,” said Susan McGovern, Vice-President, External Relations and Advancement. “There is no question how much we rely on our volunteers who invest their time and talents with us. Their dedication is the cornerstone of UOIT’s successes, and we appreciate their commitment.”
Volunteers assist in various ways across all faculties, departments and services within the university. Their roles range from governance and advisory positions, to helping with on-campus special events or varsity sports.
Volunteerism also plays a role in UOIT's student experience. Many UOIT programs encourage student involvement in social, health and environmental issues that they are passionate about. Through the collective efforts of the UOIT Board of Governors, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends, UOIT continues to build bridges to the community and make the world a better place.
