Royal Italian daughter of radio inventor Marconi to visit UOIT June 24
Italy’s Princess Elettra to help announce new scholarship for UOIT students

The daughter of radio inventor Guglielmo Marconi, Princess Elettra Giovannelli Marconi of Italy, is touring North America to celebrate her father’s entrepreneurial legacy and promote science and technology endeavours by young people.
Following stops at two U.S. universities, Princess Elettra’s tour will come to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology on Tuesday, June 24 at 2:15 p.m. The royal visit includes the unveiling of newly named Marconi Scholarships for students in UOIT’s Faculty of Science, in the designated Marconi disciplines of physics, computer science and mathematics.
Media are invited to attend.
The university will also celebrate its collaboration with the Italian Cultural Centre of Durham and its international exchange program and partnership with Italy’s Politecnico di Torino. Following the presentation, Professor Vittorio Marchis, Politechnico di Torino, will offer a lecture entitled Autopsy of a Radio.
