Blood cancer research expert to speak at UOIT September 30

Dr. Aaron Schimmer to present 2014 Purdue Pharma Canada Distinguished Lecture

Dr. Aaron Schimmer, Staff Physician, Department of Hematology/Oncology, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre; Scientist, The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute; and Head, Experimental Hematology, University of Toronto, will present the seventh-annual Purdue Pharma Canada Distinguished Lecture at UOIT.
Dr. Aaron Schimmer, Staff Physician, Department of Hematology/Oncology, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre; Scientist, The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute; and Head, Experimental Hematology, University of Toronto, will present the seventh-annual Purdue Pharma Canada Distinguished Lecture at UOIT.

The Faculty of Science will welcome Dr. Aaron Schimmer to campus on Tuesday, September 30 to present the seventh-annual Purdue Pharma Canada Distinguished Lecture, entitled: Are we winning the war against blood cancer?

Dr. Schimmer, Staff Physician, Department of Hematology/Oncology, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre; Scientist, The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute; and Head, Experimental Hematology, University of Toronto, will discuss a wide range of issues, including the latest developments and treatments pertaining to leukemia, drug recycling and molecular genetics.

Based in Pickering, Ontario, Purdue Pharma is a leading pharmaceutical company that generously funds the lecture series to connect UOIT students with leading scientists and encourage them to explore career opportunities and research options within the health science industry and beyond.
