UOIT Ridgebacks women’s soccer coach profiled in Oshawa This Week

Oshawa This Week recently ran an article featuring the success of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) Ridgebacks women’s soccer team, and the role head coach Peyvand Mossavat played in UOIT’s historic 2014 season.
The women’s soccer program, which just completed its third year, experienced a number of firsts under Mossavat’s leadership, including:
- Beating the University of Toronto 2-1 in their quarter-final match to advance to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) final four.
- Earning the program's first-ever OUA medal (bronze) in Hamilton, Ontario
- Progressing to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national championship with a 2-0 win over Wilfrid Laurier University.
Despite a shootout loss to the University of Montreal Carabins at the CIS championships in Quebec City, the season was a great success overall.
The article also highlighted a number of Mossavat’s personal achievements, including:
- Becoming the first coach from UOIT to be named CIS coach of the year.
- Being named head coach of the Canadian women’s soccer entry for the 2015 Summer Universiade in South Korea.
