October 11, 2016
The University of Ontario Institute of Technology athletic programs are making their mark on the national stage as the men's hockey and women's soccer teams are both featured in the this week’s (October 11) Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Top 10 rankings.
For the first time in program history, the men's hockey team has made the national polls. The Ridgebacks (2-0-0) opened the season with road wins at Ottawa and McGill, earning the program a ninth-place ranking.
The women’s soccer program has enjoyed a number of Top 10 rankings in recent seasons. The team is off to a 10-2-1 start this year and currently ranked eighth in Canada.
"It's amazing to see our athletic programs being recognized by the CIS," says Scott Barker, Manager, Intercollegiate Athletics. "Everyone on campus works hard to make the student-experience second to none and that has led to success across all sports on campus. I want to congratulate all of our coaches and student-athletes on their achievements so far this season."
