Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Return all overdue books: You may not get your marks!

This is a reminder UOIT will not release your fall-term grades if you have any overdue library books or unpaid library fines. All overdue books must be returned or renewed, and all library fines paid by Thursday, December 19, 2013 or your grades will not be released.

On Friday, November 15, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) will recognize the generosity of its donors, whose significant contributions create opportunities for prospective students and pave the way for enhanced learning.

The North Oshawa Library is extending its hours between November 29 and December 15.

North Oshawa Library extended hours

The North Oshawa Library will be open until 10:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 15. Monday to Thursday, the hours will remain unchanged.

Gamification 2013 conference a success

UOIT receives award for work with crown ward students

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) was recently recognized for its involvement in various initiatives that help crown ward students in Durham Region succeed in post-secondary education.
