FBIT postdoctoral fellow receives prestigious Fulbright award

Dr. Yang Wang, a postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT) at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), has been selected for the Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois.

Government of Canada invests in science summer camps and outreach for young Canadians

Ed Holder, Minister of State (Science and Technology), announced an investment in organizations across the country to inspire young Canadians to study science, technology, engineering and math. This year's recipients are developing programs in computer science, agriculture, marine studies, northern ecology, astronomy, mathematics and science journalism.

Canada is a country blessed with a wealth of natural resources, a list that includes reliable access to clean water. Despite enjoying this abundance, Canadians are also notorious water wasters. Environment Canada says each Canadian uses an average of 350 litres of water a day: the second-highest consumption rate in the world, next to the United States. Canadians use twice as much water as Europeans.

Dr. Pierre Côté, Canada Research Chair in Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), is endorsing an international initiative to champion better health for all people with disability.

At the 59th- annual Canadian Society of Forensic Science Conference, Emily Rolko, fourth-year UOIT Forensic Science student, presented her thesis on the use of an electroantennogram (EAG) to experimentally determine what chemicals released by a cadaver attract the blow fly Lucilia sericata.

Two University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) students joined national and international forensics experts to showcase their thesis work at the 59th- annual Canadian Society of Forensic Science Conference, hosted by the Canadian Society of Forensic Science (CSFS) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
