UOIT set to host Durham Region’s best young science students

They have been working hard for many weeks putting the finishing touches on their science fair projects. On Saturday, April 5 elementary and secondary school students from all corners of Durham Region will converge at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) for the annual Durham Regional Science Fair (DRSF).

UOIT researcher discusses wearable technologies in health care at MaRs

While the shift from carryables like smartphones to wearable technology is already happening, now is the opportunity to stop and ask what we’re doing with the technology and how consumers can be protected. That was the message communicated by Dr. Isabel Pedersen, Canada Research Chair in Digital Life, Media, and Culture and Director of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology’s (UOIT) Digital Culture and Media Lab (DeCiMaL), at a recent panel discussing the growing use of wearable technology in health care.

The Graduating Class Challenge had great student participation, with more than 25 per cent of graduating students submitting their fond UOIT memories and people of influence.

FESNS wins the 2014 Graduating Class Challenge

Congratulations to the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS) for having the highest percentage of graduating students who submitted their UOIT memories as part of the Graduating Class Challenge. As a result, a $2,000 scholarship will be provided to one of the faculty’s fourth-year students in the 2014-2015 academic year.

Focusing on the work of graduating students, the Fridge to Fringe art exhibit is based on the idea of moving from the security of the support received at home, out into the community where artists attempt to establish themselves in the public eye.

The post-diploma Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program, collaboratively offered by the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Durham College (DC) and Georgian College (GC), has reached a significant milestone, achieving a seven-year accreditation from the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN).

The world of video gaming is going through some exciting changes, from the development of new consoles to the growth of virtual reality and cloud gaming.
