Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Return all overdue books: You may not get your marks!

This is a reminder that the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) will not release your winter-term grades if you have any overdue library books or unpaid library fines. All overdue books must be returned or renewed, and all library fines paid by Friday, April 24 or your grades will not be released.

UOIT Engineering graduates receive their iron rings

Approximately 250 Engineering students graduating from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology’s (UOIT) Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) and Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS) gathered at Regent Theatre in Oshawa, Ontario on March 21 to receive their iron rings as a reminder of the moral and ethical responsibilities they will take upon themselves as they enter the engineering profession.

UOIT Accounting students assist community with income tax returns

More than two dozen University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) students set aside many hours of personal time in March to provide free tax return services to individuals in the community. The members of the UOIT Accounting Association (UOAA) offered these services through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).

Spring runoff for charity coming to campus April 8

One of the surest signs of spring at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is the sight of hundreds of people walking and running as a group around campus. The seasonal tradition continues on Wednesday, April 8 as UOIT teams up with friends at Durham College to stage the 8th annual Campus Charity Walk and Run. Proceeds from the event will support the Boys and Girls Club of Durham.

A university student never knows where their degree is going to take them upon graduation. International robotics showdown coming to UOIT and Durham College

High school robotics teams from across Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and New York State will converge in Oshawa for a three-day robotics showdown at the FIRST® Robotics Canada (FRC) Greater Toronto East Regional competition. The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and Durham College (DC) will host the event at the schools’ shared Oshawa campus from Thursday, March 12 to Saturday, March 14.
